Going for Gold
Sanderson Associates have been assisting with the largest ever Park and Ride schemes for the Olympics by providing the vehicle swept path analysis for the car park areas. The commission was to ensure that the layouts were able to accommodate the appropriate vehicles to ensure that the various Park and Ride schemes ran smoothly in terms of layout to help provide spectators with the best possible experience of the Games overall.
The Park and Ride sites are mainly intended for spectators who may find it difficult to make their entire journey to and from the Games by public transport, particularly those outside of London. A fleet of buses transport passengers between the sites and venues.
A total of 18 car parks were assessed including the Olympic Park, ExCeL and Greenwich Park, Weymouth (Sailing), Eton Dorney (Rowing and Canoe Sprint), Lee Valley White Water Centre (Canoe Slalom), and Hadleigh Farm (Mountain Biking).
Sanderson Associates are delighted to have been able to make a small but critical contribution to the management strategy for the transport systems for the Olympic Games.
