£200 for Christie Charity by Paul Robinson
Words by Paul Robinson:-
On Sunday 4 September, as promised, I completed the Manchester 100km bike ride to raise funds for The Christie Charity.
Although the weather building up to event was a bit mixed, on the day the weather was glorious which created a real party atmosphere at the start of the ride in Wythenshawe Park.
The ride took us out of Wythenshawe Park and headed through Knutsford to Northwich before heading back through Middlewich and Wilmslow back to the Finish at Wythenshawe Park and took us along some beautiful lanes through Cheshire.
I completed the ride in 4hrs 10mins which was a big surprise, but the route around Cheshire was far less hilly than my training routes around Saddleworth.
The only complaint was the onset of saddle fatigue as this was the longest time I’d spent on the bike!!
That said, it was a really enjoyable day and the cheering crowds at the finish gave you the much needed boost at the end of the ride.
Most importantly I would like to thank everyone who kindly sponsored me on the ride and after collecting all the money I managed to raise £200
