Following the decision of Barnsley Council to twice refuse planning permission for a change of use at Sheffield Road Barnsley an appeal was lodged on the applicant’s behalf by Sanderson Associates. Detailed evidence was given which provided a convincing argument to the Planning Inspector who determined the appeal on the Appellant’s favour. The appeal was managed throughout by Sanderson Associates including submission to the Inspectorate via the Inspectorate Planning Portal.

The Inspector concluded that the proposal would not significantly harm the highway safety of the users of Sheffield Road or conflict with policies of the Council’s Local development Framework. The Appeal process straddled the release of the new national Planning Policy Framework and Sanderson Associates were required by the Inspectorate to provide comment on the relevance to the NPPF in relation to the appeal proposal.
